Eric R. Arnold is a disabled activist, a dedicated Mountaineer fan, and an outstanding West Virginia litigation attorney, serving the needs of those involved in toxic tort and business disputes.
Eric first attended West Virginia University as a News Editorial student, graduating magna cum laude in 2009. The following year, Eric completed a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) as a Mountaineer and then obtained his law degree from the WVU College of Law in 2013. From 2008 forward, Eric worked for Hendrickson & Long, PLLC, first as a law clerk during the summer and winter breaks, remotely throughout his graduate studies and then as an attorney as of October 2014.
Eric’s practice experience includes general business law and civil litigation, oil and gas defense, toxic tort, consumer credit and protection, personal injury and wrongful death, veterans’ claims and disability advocacy. Eric has participated in writing and completing numerous legal briefs at all levels of the state and federal court systems.
Before joining the firm, Eric covered WVU Athletics for the national site Rivals.com for over five years (2008-2013), building relationships with administrators, coaches and players during one of the most prolific eras in Mountaineer history. His ability to capture scenes and craft his analysis into text was praised in a period when on-site video was just beginning. Eric also profiled high school recruits, establishing trust to get honest answers, and also was at the forefront of sports analytics in his basketball and football analysis.
Eric, a wheelchair-bound individual with a form of muscular dystrophy known as spinal muscular atrophy, possesses over 15 years of personal experience with West Virginia DHHR, Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security (SSI/SSDI) programs. This includes case management of private healthcare and staffing on numerous state and federal waiver programs.
When not working hard for his clients, Eric is a changemaker in the community. He is an organizer of the Families of Spinal Muscular Atrophy Golf Tournament in Charleston, a 21-year charity event with over $450,000 raised for funding and research. He also serves as the President of the West Virginia University Alumni of Greater Kanawha. He is a member of the West Virginia State Rehabilitation Council and serves as vice president of the board for the Arc of the Three Rivers, Charleston. He also previously served on the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Aged and Disabled Waiver Program Council.
